27th, 28th and 29th June 2023
WHO WILL BENEFIT
This course offers a practical understanding of
the continuous-casting process and
relationships to quality based on fundamental
principles. It explains causes and prevention
strategies of many problems commonly
experienced in production.
Topics to be covered include basic aspects of
the design and operation of the mold, nozzle
clogging, fluid flow in the mold, mold powders,
oscillation mark formation, heat transfer in the
mold and sprays, solidification and segregation,
high-temperature mechanical properties of
steel and crack formation, mold operation and
maintenance, spray cooling and defects, and
on-line detection of quality problems. New
developments in continuous casting will be
introduced in each topic as appropriate.
Content is based on the instructors´ decades of
research experience and best practices in the
industry.
The Continuous Casting Course is designed for
people who are concerned with controlling and
improving the quality and production rate of
continuously cast steel shapes. Persons who
will benefit include shop floor operating
personnel, quality control and research
personnel, management and maintenance
personnel and individuals in support industries
associated with continuous casting.
